Introducing our new Work Shop Series for 2010

I have had a lot of request for this, so here we go! Starting in 2010 we will be offering several photography workshops. This will be the first of the series and I am really excited! It will be on Saturday March 6th 2010 from 1:30 - 4:30 pm. It is aimed to help those who have a desire to get serious with their camera but are really just starting to explore it. This is truly a beginner's workshop but we are skipping over 'Point, hold your breath and shoot' and moving right into.. 'Understanding how this thing actually works!' I hope that even someone who may have a grasp on these basic concepts will walk away with a deeper understanding and good foundation to jump into the more advanced workshops that will quickly follow.

If you have specific topics that you would like to see covered in upcoming workshops please send your feedback now as we are working to set some of the remaining agendas now and your feedback is very helpful! Thank you! Hope to see you at a workshop soon!

Workshop details and registration link below.

You can use the Paypal link below to sign up and purchase your seat(s) (Please check the date, purchases are non-refundable!) There are discounts available for groups of two or three! In order to prevent overbooking, the payment button below will disappear when the the workshop space has been filled.

Back in town and the inbox over floweth :)

Have you ever opened your closet and everything piled inside fell out on top of you? Well, me either but when I opened my email box after nearly a week without internet connection at our hotel.. that was exactly what I thought of. LOL

I have a full schedule staring on Monday back to shooting but I will be making an effort to get back to anyone who emailed or left a message asap! Thank you very much in advance for your patience!!! ~ ricki

Erika's 1st dress fitting

We had a wonderful wedding planning weekend. After the Pictage Partner Conference in New Orleans we planned to meet in Atlanta for a shoe shopping weekend. Well.. after quickly finding THE perfect shoe we still had time for other wedding fun. We squeezed in the first dress fitting and an antique shop extravaganza in search of the 'something old'. It was awesome Mother- Daughter time and I looove her final picks. This is the good stuff :) PS.. should have probably mentioned that these are off a Canon G10 (point & shoot).

I love this grainy black and white! :)

Cassie's post wedding bridal shoot and look at the process.

A little 'behind the scenes history of this fun bridal session' .. Cassie married her sweetie Kyle on a gorgeous family farm a few weeks ago. (not blogged simply for schedule reasons but you can still see them on the website under the preview tab.. just enter the password 'tfarm' if you would like to see those!) We did bridals on wedding day (as we often do). However the time we had for them fell in the heat of the day (as it often does) and of course time is limited on wedding day. I was pretty happy with those bridals..

I do love bringing in the house elements for the historic value and added nostalgia that it will bring to these images in years to come. What I did not like is that this was the ONLY set of bridals that Cassie would have had to choose from! Even though in the end we will likely use the original bridals in the album, I made Cassie promise to come in for another bridal session after the wedding. I really like for my brides to have options and make sure they get to have some fun in their dress with the pictures! :)

At the studio shoot we were able to cover all the bases. We did inside and outside, classic, contemporary, modern and fun! And we did have a good time (the way only two girls left alone with a wedding dress can! lol. :)

We shot an hour or two and took way too many images (as usual ;) I spent more time cutting them down and editing than I did shooting them! Yes, one day.. one day.. one day.. I will learn, but not today. :)

The images here are 'proofs' or still at 'proof quality' which at Red House means that they have been checked and adjusted for color etc in Lightroom but not received any final edits in Photoshop. Often blog images have already went through one more stage of editing in Photoshop for final skin touchups, very MINOR body shaping, sharpening etc is often done. Those final edits will happen to these images once she decides what she will actually be using and how. THEN.. the 'final, final touches :)' will happen to the selected images at the lab. We use the highest level of service our lab offers and only offer their highest level of custom print service to our clients. This means that these images will get one more minor adjustment at the time of printing for the best possible print with the labs printers.

Re-purposing our blog!

We are bored with the blog! Soooo... after a fun brainstorming session we have decided to spice it up in conjunction with our recent maintenance. We are going to be making an effort to bring our clients (and whoever could possibly care :) a new, more behind the scenes look at the job process. When possible we will be including camera meta data (for our photography junkies) and just giving more information on how we get from start to finish with your images. Let us know what you think! :)

Blog repairs .. go Erika!!

whoo hooo Erika has made my day! Somewhere along the way our 'follow this blog' died and we never seem to have time to solve that mystery. Well.. Erika has us up and running again! :) KUDOS & KISSES .. you rock!

The very first Christmas image of the year!

Jamison did the honors of the first Christmas image of the year.. and ohhhh my.. it makes my heart melt!! It also reminds me of the reminder I should have put out two weeks ago!! :0 If you are thinking Christmas cards featuring your cute 'lil elf you should be getting those done now (like really.. now :) to be finished in time for custom cards or your own mailing ideas!

If you are a die hard blog stalker you will likely know former bride & groom Marlyn & Glenn .. this is their GORGEOUS little girl and the baby sister of baby Jack :)

Baby Jack... Adorable! :)

Pre-Bridal shoot.. just because we can!

Katie is a one of our in area brides with an upcoming Chattanooga wedding in Jan. We decided to do a quick fun 'prelude to bridals' practice shoot at the studio. I just LOVE it when we can do that!! We worked on things that will help make her bridals even 'more awesomer' :) (Hey it's my blog I can say it if I want to ;) What good stuff!! She totally looks like a seasoned fashion model. She photographs so awesome! It will be hard for me to let her smile because I just love her straight relaxed face as you can tell from the ones I pulled here. ;)

Introducing our new product line by Cypress Fine Handmade Albums & Boxes!!

I am sooo excited about this new line of heirloom quality product for 2010!! (This will be our second line with Fine Art Paper.) We will be slowly introducing it from now until the first of the year. For now, we already have these gorgeous presentation boxes in our product line with a sample for view in the studio as well as this beautifully delicate handmade album perfect for baby and maternity images! The cover fabrics are just awesome!! It is worth a trip by the studio just to see the swatches!

Coming soon will be the Iris Flush Mount Album! OH OH OH.. I can not wait for you to see this book!! It will be introduced into our wedding album line only. I am super excited about this product! We can actually mail the Cypress swatches to you with any Iris album order. That makes me sooooo happy!! :) More to come!

Now have new swatches of the White Glove promotional covers

The following several swatch images are different views of the same two covers at different viewing distances. Hope this helps! :) To see the White Glove promotion involving these two covers move down the blog to the Fri Aug 21st 8:51pm post.

C25 will be a great option for the farm weddings we have had this year!! It is very organic and textured. We have needed something like this to fill this spot! C23 is very versatile but with just enough subtle personality to hold its own and create that moment of anticipation of what could be inside this book to warrant such a nice cover! :)

Cassie & Justin Boyed - Dalton, Georgia wedding

Cassie, Justin and their families were just blessed with a wonderful day.  Such super nice people!  You could just feel the love they all shared and it was wonderful to be part of their special day.

Wow at the bridal party!  I think we had around 29 total in this group (+bride & groom)! Everything went so smooth and was sooo beautiful!  Even though we were together for over 8 hours, it just went by toooo fast!!  This was my first event at the Dalton Country Club and I am not sure how it has escaped me this long.  It was awesome and a great find for a reception spot!

Here is a little peek at a few favs so far guys!

Eric & Frances Carter - St. Elmo, Tn

Such a romantic wedding at the Thankful Memorial Episcopal Church in St. Elmo.  This couple just makes me smile.  Sometimes it only takes a minute to see that people were meant to be together and this was one of those! :) They had such a lovely day and I was so happy for them. I do love my job!

Frances and Eric dropped wedding cake off at the studio. This was not a 'piece' of cake, this was serious trouble! Erika is not in the studio during the week. Sooooo.. please save me from myself! lol Thank you for the thoughtful gesture guys. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek as much as I enjoyed (my tiny piece of) the cake!

Jennifer & Tony Baker - Covenant College, Lookout Mtn, Tn

Well the rain came and ran us inside for the ceremony but really.. the rain shots are my favorite! :)  And there was a great backup plan for inside.  Sooo... I say.. whose afraid of a little rain!?

Jennifer and Tony are the kind of couple everyone falls in love with at the wedding.  You just want to keep them!  They had a beautiful day (even with rain) and we all enjoyed their obvious delight with each other.  How sweet!  I hope you enjoy these previews:

This picture just makes me laugh every time I see it.  fuuunny!  Mostly because that was an unsolicited face and arm pose the groom ended up with.  ROFL  What a good sport!  I have to think that Tony is thinking.. ohhh I just don't know about this at all! lol

Portrait calendar temporarily closing

Hello!

Well, wedding season is humming along and we have sure been enjoying this mild spring weather!

We need to temporarily suspend any new bookings of 'non-wedding related' portrait sessions to keep things on track with the wedding schedule.  I hope to be able to open it back up at the first of July but I will keep you posted here!

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding!!  Ricki

Spring Bellydance Show -Chattanooga

video

Any belly dancers out there?  Any .. 'maybe I just might like to do that one dayers' out there? As you will see.. nooot our normal post.  But I thought you might enjoy these highlights from the Spring Bellydance Show put on at the Barking Legs Theater.  What fuuuun!  These very brave girls did such a good job putting on this spring show.  I will confess that I spent most of it just imagining myself with my hip out of joint laying on the floor begging someone to call 911 right before I passed out! LOL

I've watched the last one several times.  Amazing!  I again.. would have a concussion at the very least.  lol

Soooo.. if you are thinking.. hmmmm wonder if I might like to do that you should so talk to these ladies about getting classes of your own!  :)  Maybe we will be freaking out at your new moves by next spring! ;)  Just call me for contact info.

These images were all shot available light in a veeeery dark theater with spot lit dancers with the new Canon 5dmarkii.  Awesomeness.  Just makes me happy! ;)

Amanda & JR - Rogers, Arkansas

What a beeeeautiful bride and such a lovely wedding!  We had a great time and enjoyed our stay in Arkansas very much.  The ceremony was at St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church followed by the reception at Pinnacle Country Club.  Everything went so smooth everywhere that I have to give a special thank you to all the people behind the scenes (many of whom I am sure I never even met!) that jumped in to make this wedding happen!  Your efforts really showed with an incredibly well organized day and a relaxed happy bride :)!!  I especially wanted to give the wedding planner, Jenessa Bailey of Bailey Occasions  a mention here.   She did a GREAT job keeping us in the loupe from afar! :)  loved her!   (And yes she does travel ;) and event coordinator at Pinnacle Country Club, Jamie Pristupa.  Nice Job!

And everyone is already asking where this dress came from.. Anne Barge
